Re: SebastiAn
3rd May 2012, 15:07 #791Hello everyone, been reading this thread for a while so I finally decided to register to post.
I listened to Ed Banger's 9 Year party live sets last March (listen here) and been wondering since then, did Busy P and Kavinsky play a new SebastiAn track during their set? It's around 47:45 in their set if you listen on Le Mouv's website.
I cut the track out of the set and had it listed as "untitled?" in my iTunes library ever since then; it certainly sounds like SebastiAn to me. Since I didn't really know where to look (Shazam brought up nothing, no surprise), I uploaded it to YouTube to post it here.
So what do you think?

Re: SebastiAn
3rd May 2012, 16:11 #793yeah, certain techniques in that song sound SebastiAnesque but as we know from the next generation of musicians he inspired (Skrillex, Nero), it's possible to copy distinct elements of his style. this sounds more like that to me. if it is indeed SebastiAn, this reflects an attempt to change his sound up a little bit, which i would welcome (and this sounds good), but my sense is that this isn't him.
also, "new kavinsky sebastian remix" -- Kavinsky remixing SebastiAn, or SebastiAn remixing Kavinsky?

3rd May 2012, 16:23 #794Kavinsky remixing sebastian's remix of kavinsky. It's actually just a kavinsky remix (that sebastian produced) of the Testarossa - Sebastian Remix.
and while i'm at it, @Akchoté, I really want a copy of the H.A.L./Time Period release. Got any extras lying around that you can throw over the pond?Last edited by ohmanrobert; 3rd May 2012 at 16:29.

3rd May 2012, 17:47 #796Oh so it's allready been a thing that they use it? Oh wow i feel like a Slowpoke now haha i'll have to listen to one of their BBC things sometime
I'm not Slowpoke about the french influence of their album tho, i think you'd have to be preaty Slowpoke yourself to miss it in like you say Fugue State, Guilt and Must Be The Feeling... and i guess the 1st half of Doomsday to an extent
I see it more of a refernece to their Idols then 'stealing', i mean if they were stealing they're not doing a good job of hiding it by; admiting their Daft Punk and Justice in interviews, Remixing Justice and SebastiAn, then inviting SebastiAn to remix them! ...Think about it! That's basicly like droping bread crumbs to the source haha
Re: SebastiAn

track id 33 to 40 is the most epic mixing i've ever experienced. the whole electro house part of their mix is freaking good e.g., pacific coast highway --> 4h30 --> let there be light --> cheep and cheerful (sebastian remix) :O good sh*t!
EDIT: holy frack that's awesome. what IS that?! sounds like revolte. someone please id! 'let there be light' sounds like it's coming next :]Last edited by jsaid001; 3rd May 2012 at 18:39.
