WHATS THE DEFINITION OF RAVE??
5th Aug 2007, 00:36 #6I think it's rave actually =S
I don't know, raves are pretty much places where people gather to hear electronic music; am I wrong?
When I went to see Tiesto, people called it a rave. I've also been to other raves, so I don't see why the Daft Punk concerts shouldn't be called a rave
Personally, I think concerts are when instruments are played, shows are when you see people doing stunts, fireworks or whatever (for instance, a circus). I can see why people may call Daft Punk's tour as shows because of the spectacular lightshow.
For me, Daft Punk's show is primarily a rave, but it's the greatest rave EVER
EDIT: Oh yeah, there were drugs in Daft Punk's LA rave. I saw some stoners in there. Yeah, it's a sure thing you'll see some drug users in raves (I like raves, but not everyone who goes to raves in into drugs, like me and my friends). In addition, you can bet that there are stoners in rock concerts and stuff.
5th Aug 2007, 00:42 #7TOCKYN, as a rave is basically what you said.
Daft Punk might count as a rave, since it is electronic music, blah, blah. But for me a rave is going mental on the dance floor, losing all touch with your vision for starters. Since I assume most of us didn't dance, but jumped up and down keeping their eyes firmly glued to the stage, I'd call it a concert.
Maybe we should all agree and just call it 'the second coming', or something along those lines.
5th Aug 2007, 07:28 #8I would call it an experience.
but I danced, the whole ampitheater was dancing, or grooving (besides my dad, but he still thought it was amazing), whatever you wanna call it.

5th Aug 2007, 12:41 #10FYI: true raves are underground... like daft punk's video for revolution 909...
I used to be a rave kid back in the early 90's and will explain more later... but for now I'm off to Toronto to see the show or concert...
