Well that's gotta be wrong. Surely a more recent land mass has been discovered? There are recent artificial islands off Dubai, if that counts.
And the most recent country is Montenegro I think. That probably doesn't really count as "young" though.
How about this: Tristan da Cunha is an island that was first sighted in 1506, with the first settler in 1810. That's much younger than New Zealand.
