and piroteki, that's cool that a math and science highschool turned you into an art fan. there's so many times were all this science stuff just makes me want to quit and play the saxophone for a living.
12th Oct 2007, 14:51 #12I hope people realise how different university maths is from what people have to put up with before.
It's very abstract, I summarise it as "I haven't used any numbers other than -1,0,1 and sometimes 2 for over a year".
Today we did Fourier Transforms which is pretty funky (although quite physicy).

12th Oct 2007, 17:06 #13yeah, college math is really different, it's pretty cool, but i'm still no big fan of it. I'm in Vector Calculus right now, you know like 3-d volumes and stuff, the possibilities of problem solving are really amazing, but it's just hard sometimes.

[/quote1192235263]it didn't turn me into an art fan, lol. (though i would suspect that would be more of a bad thing than a good thing. for the school at least. lol)
i was very much into art before going (almost went to an art highschool, but it's a long story). it's more like cemented that "hey, i'm really not into all this advanced math/science."
basic/general stuff is pretty cool, though. i use arithmetic & basic geometry in my art allll the time. (to the point where i have a whole sheet full of little calculations that's more or less illegible to anyone else.)

Off the top of my head I can't actually remember Stokes' Law and Gauss' Law (you should which one of the hundred Gauss laws I'm talking about!) And then I think you sub in FgradG into Gauss' law to get Green's theorem.. Hum.

yeah dude, like gradient vectors and all that stuff. that's good fun..not. I'm a huge fan of my genetics and biochem classes, just how the human body works and all life on this planet is amazing.
