Notes at beginning of Alive 2007

Hey you those five notes that are played a few times right at the beginning of Alive 2007? (and Couchella and probably many other Daft Punk concerts)

Where do those come from? Aren't they from come classical symphony or something like that? What instrument are they played on?

And most importantly: Is there a version anywhere that doesn't have the crowd noises behind it for me to sample from? I have an idea for a Human - Robot remix that uses that.

Its the CLose Encounters of THe Third Kind music.
You can just sample it from its soundtrack.

In the film close encounters of the 3rd kind scientists develop a universal greeting which is made of 5 notes. They also came up with hand gestures to go with it - mid film the mothership comes to earth to the "control centre" where they play the sequence to the ship via a PA and after a while the ship responds and plays back the sequence.

Check the film out - its a great watch.

Its an amazing movie, and the music (by John William, i believe) is really good, and the whole soundtrack is developed out of the 5-note hello sequence.

Really frightening the sounds and colurs (Discovery era style) so...

If youa re under 9 years old be carrefull! It could traumatize you for life! and listen Electronic music as a young guy xD

I saw it when I was 6. It scared me.
I saw it again two years ago. Loved it.

But gdlneo is right, very much like Discovery helmets :P (too bad they don't do the lights anymore )
