Hey all,
We're here to introduce ourselves to The Daft Club as Daft Punk'd the Tribute. The project started at San Diego's Feel the Noise at U-31 back in April of this year. It was a last minute decision that turned out to be an incredible reaction from the crowd. About two months later Daft Punk'd the Tribute was booked for a San Diego Comicon after party at 4th & B in late July followed by a second night in SD at AC Lounge. Both nights were great.
We'd like the Daft Club to know that this is purely for fun. Ron DMC and myself, Nathan Black are fans of Daft Punk and have been involved in electronic music for several years. Ron produces various projects while I DJ dance parties between San Diego and Phoenix. This project has suddenly taken a front seat due to the demand of bringing us to other towns.
One thing I'd like to clear up:
We do not use a CD live. We use a mix between Serato and Ableton 8 Live with the Akai APC40. We build our live set by starting with a Serato mix of Daft Punk tracks (original and remixes), we record certain parts and then use Live 8 with the APC40 for the live mix.
Please ask questions if you have any, e.g. how we made our helmets, what's in our mixes, etc. Speculation on the internet can be dangerous and we want no part of that- full disclosure here.
Thanks much,
Nathan
