Wow so get this. As some of you know who I talk to a lot, my friend Kaitlyn has been in rehab for the past few months. Well she got out finally and I got to see her today. First of all, she looks great. She's tan, she's happy, she looks incredibly healthy. Honestly she looks better than when she left, which is a really good thing. Anyway, she made some friends in rehab apparently, and she got like numbers and stuff whatever. But today she told me she, get this, wants to FLY to Seattle to visit a quote "hot older guy from rehab." Well I asked her how old he was, expecting her to say something like 22 or maybe MAYBE as high as like 28. Well apparently the guy is 44 years old! FOURTY FOUR YEARS OLD! Kaitlyn is 19!!! I told her, "Kate, he's old enough to be your father." Her reply was, "He has a 19 year old daughter."
=|... that's all I can say. Am I wrong for thinking that entire situation is weird? I mean, she wants to spend thousands of dollars to fly to Seattle and stay there and visit some guy who is 25 years older than her! AND He has a kid her age! Any 44 year old man who is even remotely talking to a 19 year old is a creeper. I mean yes, it's legal she's over 18. But still! It's REALLY ****ING CREEPY!!!

I think you may be generalizing there, mate. And she could just be going for a visit, like a platonic, friend visit kinda thing.

No way, I know her better than that. This is the girl who tried to be platonic friends with a guy, and week later was like "oops I slept with him."
EDIT: When I say talking to, I don't mean having a conversation. I mean like working game on her.

Well that's no way to be. If that's the way it is anyway, and it's what she wants, why not just let her go? It's not like the dude's a stranger.

Because it's wrong. He's 25 years older than her. It's even creepier than those 60 year old guys that date 30 year olds.

Well I'm not one to say what's right or wrong for someone else. When it all comes down to it, it's her choice.

Doesn't make it any more socially acceptable whether it's her choice or not. I'm not gonna tell her what to do, but I just don't want her to be surprised when everyone she knows is disgusted by her

She doesn't seem to want it to be like an ongoing relationship kinda thing. And I don't see how anyone she knows will know, unless she tells them.

I just think it's a waste of her time and money. I wouldn't fly out to see anyone, let alone someone 25 years older than me

I have several friends ranging from 10 to 20 years older than me that I'd do anything for.
