The much-anticipated Sony Playstation 4 was released this month to the delight of gamers all across the world. Many emptied their wallets on the day of its release to get their hands on this “next-generation” console. But before the PS4’s release day, Playstation teased fans with the PS4 unboxing video. Look familiar?
Anyone following the build up to the release of Daft Punk’s Random Access Memories might have seen “Random Access Memories Unboxed” which is undoubtedly the inspiration behind the PS4 unboxing footage. Both videos depict a glowing box at the end of a hallway in what appears to be some sort of futuristic control room; both videos have first-person shots of a gloved figure(s) examining every part of the product; and both videos end with a final appreciation of the main product in all its glory.
So were Sony simply parodying themselves, or do they believe the PS4 is equal to the greatness of Random Access Memories? Tell us your thoughts on the forum!
