Hi guy’s well, first of all I started a new thread because there are a lot of posts on the tips and tricks, and I wanted to gave a full explanation on the best tips that I can give you about the materials, tools and how to make the helmet’s.

I’m going to give more tips to make Thomas helmet cuz it’s easier that Guy one.

    Let’s begin with the materials.

    +Cardboard (2 to 3 mm thick works nice )
+Exacto knife to cut the cardboard XD
+ Glue to paste your helmet parts
+Ruler to guide in your cutting path XD
+Baseball Helmet or something closely similar to it.
+Bondo (Gotta tell you that it’s not the product name, it’s the brand) or call it paste to fix car hits XD
+Sandpaper to smooth the helmet after putting the bondo paste :P
+White Paint and Silver or Chrome Paint or both :P
+ Mica or Crystal I don’t know the name in English but it’s like a glossy paper and I think you can find it in colors so if you do buy one black and one transparent if you want XD this is to make the visor, if you have another way to make it better.
    +Patience
+And of course your awesome Luchofunk’s edited PDF’s of Thomas Helmet here http://rapidshare.com/files/13322898...lmet_edit2.rar , or you can download Pepakura Viewer, download the models. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=ROUK5IY5, and print it on normal paper XD (I recommend luchofunk, it’s easier and faster to arm). Pepakura Files Reuploaded By Herbie

Now for those who think that this can took you too much time, it’s false!!!, it can take you more time to do it if you don’t do it with patience or you are always hurry to finish it, so relax yourself, search a good place to work, if you prefer, a room only for you XD your stereo and daft punk music.
I made a helmet test last year and it didn’t went so well XD, here’s the proof, you’ve been warned http://m3m0iv.deviantart.com/art/Daf...stume-69555491 , it’s so HUGE!!! Lol, well that’s like what happens like the first time to all of us, exagerate the size of the parts XD and maybe we didn’t use a base.

Guess what I gave it another shot 2 days ago after reading posts through all the internet, found Luchofunk helmet and I was like amazed of how he replicated the helmet, so download his edited pdf’s and started to work.
I was impressed on how I managed to finish the face part on only 6 hours XD… here’s how it looks right now http://m3m0iv.deviantart.com/art/Tho...ance-131777058 , 100 time better than last year one XD.

So you can really finish one I guess like in a week if you have some skills, or in 2 weeks if you don’t have much skills :P

Ok let’s forget my things and get straight to the point, the making of.

+ Print the pdf or pepakura on your normal paper and get sure that you printed without any scaling options.

+ Cut the pieces of the pdf or pepakura, trace it down on the cardboard with pencil, or just paste it if you want to.

+ Start cutting the pieces from the cardboard, don’t pressure hard when you cut with the exacto knife, this may cause you ruin the piece you are trying to cut and level 10% your stress status, cut pressuring slightly on the cardboard this makes a “path” for the exacto to follow, you can add more pressure on the 2 cut and you will notice that is easier with the “path” made with the first cut continue cutting until the piece is cut. (wow so many cuts that I feel on a action movie XD)

+Once you have all your pieces cut, start folding the tips, don’t fold them just like that, pass one time the exacto knife to make the “path” and it will allow you to fold easier, do this with all the tips and fold lines that you have to facilitate you.

+Now start the fun part XD, arming the helmet ( WHEEEEE hope I’m not getting you bored), to arm the helmet just glue the pieces together to form the visor, cheecks and almost all the face part of the helmet (if you don’t know how the pieces go take a look at this picture of luchofunk helmet making http://www.flickr.com/photos/luchofunk/2608887700/ I’m telling for the ears part that looks like a mess XD) Notice in the picture how he added also some parts for the visor to hold it, you can add it to XD, I’m going to add it to later to my own helmet, then you can make the ears or buy a baseball helmet with 2 ear covers It’s your decision, you can make the ears too with some soda can’s.

+Then fit the face part with your baseball helmet like this http://www.flickr.com/photos/luchofunk/2608883008/ , paste it with some tape just to keep it attached and cut it to look and fit betterhttp://www.flickr.com/photos/luchofunk/2608051753/ , this pictures are of luchofunk so we most thank him for making an awesome job.

+Than add 3 coats of bondo paste or any car fixing paste you found, to get something like this http://www.flickr.com/photos/luchofunk/2608866052/ , looks great XD, of course don’t add the 3 coats in one pass, add one coat and let dry then add the second one… etc.

+Now use the sandpaper to smooth the helmet like this. http://www.flickr.com/photos/luchofunk/2608026203/ , I wish o have a baseball helmet to finish mine .

+If you managed to get here without reaching a 100% level of stress XD you are a god :P

+ Of course here comes the paint part, add 2 coats of white paint, use a aerograph or somenthin similar to get better results, then paint silver and chrome XD as many coats you think may be necessary.

+Cut the visor from the mica or glossy paper, and putt it on your helmet and voila XD you can end with something like these in your skull and wearing it on Tron Legacy Premiere XD… http://www.flickr.com/photos/luchofunk/2608892008/

These images are not mine, the images shown on the helmet creation part are from Luchofunk and I want to give all the credit to him for making an awesome job making an exact replica of the helmet and thank him for let me use them for this tutorial, XD I just made this tutorial on how I saw he made it and I’m making it too.

Hope this has been useful for those that don’t have it all in one place… so I’ll be here to help you and want to see your creations

we did not choose to become robots. there was an accident in our studio. we were working on our sampler, and at exactly 9:09 a.m. on september 9, 1999, it exploded. when we regained consciousness, we discovered that we had become robots.

I suggest to the Daft Club Admin : Please do not move this into tips and tricks, I hope i speak for a majority when saying this. I know it's related, but that thread has become flooded over the time with too much info, and has evolved into more of a "brag thread" with more photos. This literally gives one an instruction booklet on how to make it, within the first post!

Also, props to :M3: for amazing details on how to make the helmets, thanks to people like that and others, it's become possible for 11 year olds to make these helmets, without waking up face down on the grass from a Bondo overdose.
