What kind of plastic are you using?

ThreeFF and I have had modest success with RIT dye and plastic, however we couldn't get 'spotless' results at low tint levels like we wanted.

I can tell you that one pack of dye is simply not enough. Try using four packs of RIT dye. Another crutial factor is temperature. You want as high of a temp as you can get without deforming your part. I find that 150deg or a little less seems to work great for me. One last tip. Soak your part in the dye for certain intervals of time. In between soaks dip your part in cool clean water to seal the dye into the plastic. keep soaking it in dye untill your reach your desired depth in color. Good luck!

Now looking at that visor has me thinking if anyone has made a helmet out of chocolate.

Wait...why are you using RIT? If you go to an auto shop they have tons of tinting products that go all out black.

its either a spray called NITESHADE or rolls called limo tint, just go to an auto shop and ask for either of those.

I could see using the roll on tint for a TB helmet, but wouldn't it be rather hard for a GM helmet? Or can you roll on the tint and then vacuum form it? I'm curious as I've got a roll and a big sheet of PETG for my TB helmet but whenever I get around to finishing it, I'll likely start on a GM one.

What I did for guy is form the visor and cut it out, marked where my eye sight would be and layed 1 or 2 rows depending on how much vision you want and paint the rest of the visor. Worked out great for me and no one can seen in at all lol, perfect for flash photos people will most likely take of you :P. word of warning though, if you do this method and you decide to lay out 2 rows instead of just 1 MAKE SURE THEY ALIGN PERFECTLY! if you dont, you will get this ugly little gap that for some reason shows up so well...
    EDIT:
also, I made the pieces like 5 or 6 inches long, not the length of the visor, it wrinkles bad when you make it along the entire visor.
