New affordable display for Thomas helmet?

After receiving my shirt it turns out the displays in these are the same exact LED matrices found in the ever popular LED belt buckles. As such I am no longer recommending this shirt as an cheap alternative to displays for Thomas helmets.

Its not what I thought it was, and you can get the same LED belt buckle on eBay for less than 10 dollars.

Don't waste your time or money, unless you actually want the shirt.

I'm not sure if these are new, but I just came across these shirts today because they were on Gizmodo's front page.

Get your message across loud and clear without saying a word!! Our Scrolling LED Programmable Message T-Shirt is fun, easy to use, and you can reprogram it time and time again! This shirt includes a 5 x 1 LED dot matrix that can create new, store existing (up to 6 messages), and scroll your chosen message across the screen. Screen is slim with no loose wires or bulky controls and user manual and battery are included.
The display size is larger than the LED belt buckles we are all familiar with, and since this is for a t-shirt the display is probably flexible, meaning it could be bent to match the curve of your helmet's visor. All you would need to do is remove it from the shirt, and mount it into your helmet.

Here is a video of it in action.

For the time being you can get the t-shirt for $15 dollars if you use this promo code:

    ledscrollingtshirt

While this wont look good as a hand made Arduino LED display, this might be a good alternative for the electronically inclined, such as myself.

Yeah, that would probably work. I think that the belt buckles would work better on a thomas transition helmet, with the smaller led display.

Like Beastman said, no you cannot, but depending on how large the visor is on your Thomas helmet, in theory there should be room to see around it.

For instance, the visor on my Volpin helmet is about 2.5 inches tall, and this display 1.5 inches tall. That gives me about an inch to play with on top and bottom, and "plenty" of room on the sides.

Its not ideal, but its a give in that any sort of display is going to restrict your vision one way or another.
