    It's a fire wire.

Yup, its a FireWire cast. I will post an update tonight. I have just been really busy this last week (damn you senior year of college!), but I've managed to get a little bit of time in the workshop.

Wow, would be such a disaster if the thomas helmet didnt fit you either haha
anyway, did you bought the volpin cast from volpin itself?

can you tell me how much did it cost?

My Guy Man was a Volpin cast, but I traded FireWire for one of his casts. The proportions are much better.

Re: After plenty of setbacks, finally starting my build!

Hi everyone! UPDATE TIME! Nothing too big unfortunately, senior year as a double major is kicking my butt. I am about 90% done with trimming the ear spaces/visor area/nose and mouth. All I have left to do is cut a lip inside the visor area to which I can mount my visor. Should get around to that this weekend hopefully, as well as the first coat of filler putty. Enough jabbering, take a look at a few pics.

    He haz teh EARS!

So I have started to think about electronics. Plans are for a full matrix with side equalizer lights and the four color bars. I will also be adding LED's to the ears. I want to follow Harrison's method of mounting the matrix (the aluminum frames with the fans) but I plan on using Julio's method of the 8x32 sign "brains" to power it all. Here's the best part, I don't have much knowledge in arduino programming or with leds. Guess I'll be learning on the fly!

Re: After plenty of setbacks, finally starting my build!

hmm,you did the same mistake like me....
i trimmed the ears just the way like you, wich will result in the visor area to transform...
if its cold it will close and if its hot it wil open...

but don't worry, just make sure you hotglue your visor and epoxy the ears good in place ;-)

ps:don't use just some instant hardening glue!!!
go for the strongest and hardest you can find!(epoxy)

Re: After plenty of setbacks, finally starting my build!

Thanks for the advice. I will be using JB weld to hold the ears in place, which, if you've ever used it, you know that it's strong as hell. As for the visor, once my lens is glued in, and my matrix is in place, I'm not too worried about the opening changing size much.

Hopefully my matrix looks this good when I'm done...
