After plenty of setbacks, finally starting my build!

Hi everyone, for those of you who didn't see my last thread. I got a Volpin Guy Man helmet. Unfortunately, when it showed up on my doorstep, I remembered that it was built for someone who was like 6'5" or so. I looked like a bobblehead doll wearing it.

Luckily for me, Michael (FireWire) offered me one of his Thomas helmets for it, which I was ecstatic about. Once it arrived though, I was scared that it wouldn't fit.

But after a little trimming, guess what?!

IT FITS! So I've got some work to do. Stay tuned for updates!

^do you have a big head? I wear a 7 1/2 inch hat (60cm for all you metric folk), and was super nervous about it not fitting. Luckily Michael drew really good cut lines on the helmet, and I cut to that spec, and it was perfect!

    UPDATE!
So I did some cutting/trimming today. It's still really rough and needs some sanding, but you get the idea. I left a lot in the visor area until I figure out how I can mount the visor without having a little lip on the top and bottom. I am planning on putting a matrix in there, but I need some time to get my ducks in a line and figure everything out.

Should look something like this (yay candid myspace photo ):

I see that you're a Cardinals fan. Thanks for breaking a Rangers fans dream of winning their first world series! lol

But to get back on topic, that helmet is really nice. Is the Thomas a Volpin helmet as well?
