Re: TDC Members Assemble: Around the World (Literally) Virtual Cover B

That would be the practical way indeed. The thing is, we have 11 musicians who can play a total of 10 instruments (5 of which aren't in the track), when the song (if stripped down to the bare bones) has a total of 7 parts, so if everyone just played the whole song through on whichever instrument they want, we would might have multiple people playing the same thing, which would end up sounding messy, in addition to other issues. So in order for everyone to have a part while having a decent sounding final product, certain parts need to be arranged, and new ones need to be written. Here's the chart I'm working with to organize it:
And don't worry, when I finish, I'll be as descriptive as possible by providing recorded instructions for every part so we'll all know what to play and when to play. If this sounds unreasonable to anyone, please let me know!

9th Dec 2012, 07:55 #34Perhaps we could extend the song a bit, so double ups of elements could both play the same notes but if it's an issue not have to overlap? I don't think adding new chord progressions would suit this. Or maybe we could just all play the song through normally (seeing as that would be simplest) and the extra arranging only occurs during the editting stage, should overlapping some elements not be working?

13th Dec 2012, 14:12 #37Also, i have a digitech vocal 300 And my Microkorg has a vocoder!
So add that to the list i suppose for vocals.
Also if we do sometime do a Human After All cover, im getting a digitech synth wah for my guitar, which is what they used for most of the album
Looking forward to seeing how SomethingAU turns out!Last edited by JackScoby; 13th Dec 2012 at 14:19.

20th Dec 2012, 00:27 #38Just curious, but how are we going to send our files?
I have a suggestion that may save us all some space: Dropbox could store the files, and if we all had the program, we could store our parts in a shared folder that we all can access if we need to edit on the fly. We'd need to authorize the accounts that can access the shared file.
It's been a useful tool for me; I've been storing audio files for lessons, and since it's Net-based, I can dump them in a folder and declutter my laptop.
Here's the link if you're interested:
https://www.dropbox.com/
And also the how-to for share folders:

Just thought I'd share to see if it'd be useful.Musical Mod
