I think that they won't make a movie, and, if they do, it won't be for a while and won't feature RAM as the soundtrack.

Reasoning: The album is very much about the music. It has also been about the vintage feel of music as the centerpiece of entertainment from the very beginning. The big label signing, the blanket image marketing, the T.V. spot advertisements. The album is heavily rooted in disco and funk, and it throws back to music icons. It's been about the music the whole time, and it's been about the idea of how full of life music used to be. I think that putting RAM to soundtrack would detract from the statement they've been trying to make. The duo have cut ties with one director already (allegedly), and they really haven't mentioned anything about making a movie since (but they really don't talk about much anyway).

I think that they might do another "Electroma" type movie, where they don't actually use the RAM music. But, they could go all vintage rock-opera like The Who's "Tommy" given their collaboration with Paul Williams (who worked on The Muppet Movie).

TL;DR: I think that the album was meant to be about the music. I think they won't make a movie because it would take away from that focus.

If it ever happens, i hope it is another "so-bad-it´s-good" like Electroma.
Or... a pretty descent-not-pretentious movie, unlike most we see that come from music performers.

It was too artsy for it's own good, but that's what made it what it is. I think they went too far with the "silent treatment".

I agree with that. But it's not so bad it's enjoyable. The film's bloated but it's far from a bad film.

    Re: RAM Film?

It kind of had people leaving the cinema during the premiere...
It has a lot of good things to it, the actors did pretty good expressing emotions through the costumes without overacting, the photography worked fine and the fact that there is a world populated by robots is pretty fun.
Also, the robo-explotion was the best part.
The problem came from the fact that there was really nothing in-between the plot-related scenes they added scenery shots or walking shots that ended up doing nothing for the film.

It's not that it's bad per-say, more so; different. It's the unique and different nature of the film that's what people didn't like I believe. Perhaps people in the 21st century can't appreciate silent films, visual art, cinematography etc. I guess film isn't film anymore without some sort of dialogue...which is a shame, because I for one can appreciate the art on its own.
