Finished daft punk Thomas papercraft/paperkura colored model: http://www.4shared.com/file/E7-79_19...Brunoosti.html

    Hello!!
Me and a friend started this project a wile a go. We got some base models from the internet and improved them using 3d software to make the paperkura models. Soon they will be available for you all, collored and with textures. Latter, at home, i can post some images also.

We need tips from you to build these in a month. Yep.. i know.. : (
the idea is to bondo them and not making copies, applying the chrome over the primer layer.
Maybe no even bondoing (if we don't have time), and only having the COLORED paper model build and resined. With this second option we are wondering how could we get a see through visor for Guy, mainly.

If we manage to bondo in time, is that possible to get a satisfactory result in 2 weeks?? We will have two visors for Guy's helmet so as we are more efficient with the vacuum forming + cutting the one from the helmet the better way possible.

If we don't have sufficient time to bondo everything, does anyone have any idea on how to build Guy's visor without using the vacuum forming process??

(for now, we are not very much worried about the lights)

thank you very much guys! Soon I'll post some pictures of the models.

Re: From de 3d model>paperkura to chromed build - efficient tips??

i hate to burst your bubble fellas but 2 weeks for make finished sculpts would be near impossible, even with 2 expert builders with all the tools and products to hand. Sending a helmet to be chromed for example will take at least 2-3 weeks alone.....if you want DP helmets quickly then you're gonna have to buy them finished. Buying finished will save you a lot of money. Building helmets is expensive.

I can imagine... Anyway we are going for it : p. If bodoing donesn't get finished in time we will make the colored ones for this one party and continue the slower process on the bondoed till they get finished.
This is why we need some way to build the visor by not using vacuum forming.

I'm afraid you won't be able to achieve a look like a vac form'd visor, without vac forming one. The best you could do is take a visor buck, put some plastic over it and use a heat gun. Even then, it will be the same, or look the same.

This is Thomas so far. I mixed some helmets on the web, than improved the lines:
It's almost finished. Than i'll unfold it on paperkura.

If we do not achieve the bondo stage as fast as we have to, the paper model doesn't have get the same finish as the sculpted one. The thing is that we have to see trough the visors : p.
What do you mean by " visor buck"?? Sorry, English is not my native language.
Thanks for the help! : )

The buck is what you vac form visors off of. It is a hard material.

    Ah! ok! understood! : )
Yep.. could be a solution. Only sanding the separated visor and having it vacuum formed to fit the hardened paper model.

That looks great! Will you be posting the Pepakura file for public download? I may take a shot at building this one.
