Do you think DP were discouraged from making more remixes?
24th May 2014, 18:39 #1When the 'Get Lucky Daft Punk Remix' came out I remember there being a pretty poor reception and I wonder if that changed there mind to release any more. I also recall DJ Falcon posting something like, "don't be so harsh" and that "the guys just wanted to show off some unreleased material". I for one really enjoy the mix because it includes more sections that were unheard in the original, also that bass.

Re: Do you think DP were discouraged from making more remixes?
24th May 2014, 20:37 #3Yeah,it's true that they were a very bad reception even if for me the remix is still something amazing.
But,I don't think it affects them, because a lot of theirs albums had bad reception,so it's not the first time.

24th May 2014, 20:46 #4Nah, I don't think it discouraged them at-all. They make the music they want, they're not phased by a few negs.

25th May 2014, 13:56 #7Honestly I like the remix, but when I 1st time saw the promo video I was like "wow, this is gonna be so awesome" and it wasn't that great at all. I expected more edits like this lucky lucky lucky to get lucky, or more house version of the song.
Re: Do you think DP were discouraged from making more remixes?
25th May 2014, 23:04 #8I don't think they were discouraged at all. Most likely, the're saving the other remixes for a full remix album, and trying to keep it secret. Remember how HAA didn't do so hot, but that never stopped them. I personally like the remix more then the original song, and it's fitting in the era they're emulating, 70's-early 80's (more an extended edit with some new parts). Probably the reason others don't like it is because they expected something more like the "generic EDM stuff" that DP are trying to move away from. I still think they have more in store, but are saving it for a surprise remix album drop.

Ride the wave of sound.
Why do the robots take forever to make music? Isn't it obvious? They're getting upgrades.
Re: Do you think DP were discouraged from making more remixes?
26th May 2014, 13:17 #10I never knew DJ Falcon commented on this... makes me feel bad, especially since the robots are sitting so proud in their chairs while the people are dancing behind them: mission accomplished. The remix is something to be really proud of... it brings a new, dramatic feeling to the song, like people are desperate to "Get Lucky", so they stay up all night. and then...the dance and dance and dance...and go back home alone. Or something like that.
To me, this remix is a completely new story, and it's awesome!
