Not sure how to define it. But there are quite a few movies that i like, which are considered cult classics. Such as pulp fiction and boondock saints. But my favorite genre is the kung fu flicks.

    Re: What is Cult Films?

I define cult films as anything that has more relevance in popular culture now than it ever garnered in media attention/recognition around the time of its release. In other words, films that aren't generally considered to be 'classics' by the majority of film lovers but still invite a lot of discussion and praise.

Two of my personal favourites are Fight Club and Donnie Darko. Both of them contain psychological themes which I'm a sucker for but I'm also a big fan of Edward Norton who I think is a very underrated actor.

I would actually consider Interstella 5555, Electroma and TRON: Legacy to be cult films too. They kind of fit the definition, don't they?

I would add Phantom of the Paradise to that list, as well. It's an excellent, campy film. I personally feel that it did the horror-musical genre better than Rocky Horror Picture Show, plus it has Paul Williams.

This, there is always a sort of cult created by those films, a group of followers who keep the movie's existence alive. My favourite cult film is 'The Room'.

So by that definition, the twilight films are also cult films?

The thing with cult films I guess, is that they were unsuccesfull during the time of their release, or only appreciated by a small number of people. I don't think that is the case with the twilight films.

Freaks (1932) I consider this production as a cult film, because its content was very impressive (and censored) for their time.
