    GM HAA helmet padding question

While I'm still thinking on the padding for my helmet, I have a question. How would I replicate the back padding of the helmet similar to this image?

I am working on a HAA Guy for a buddy and I'm shooting for this addition. It's just foam. Some have speculated these are somehow counterweights. That would be, counterproductive.

I am going to take EVA foam and slice it to be thin enough to replicate it, and spray it with grey plastidip which has a grey sheen to it, like the OG.

My initial thought (counteracting my reply in your other thread, that was based off community views) was that these were plastic plates that were slightly smaller than guymans head that once on, stretch and keep the helmet tight.

Much like the Glad/plastic lunch containers:

But obviously padded inside as to not, well, be a pain. *ba doom tssh*

I think it could be even like sheet metal. (padded of course). from the looks of the picture it looks like 3 "plates" set there to make a tight fit.
