Literally posting dis dope as I go along. (Finally some pointless nightime YouTube browsing.)

Yup, Bae's my undisputed #1 in the scene at the moment. He lustfully abuses Bangalter's style like nobody's business and isn't afraid to admit it (compliment).

Re: Yung Bae, Saint Pepsi, and the Vaporware Scene

Funny, Aero, you didn’t strike me as the Vaporwave - er, “Vaporware” - type.
I'm not really immersed in it or anything but I certainly enjoy these tracks when they come along. I think the critics come at it from the wrong angle - seeing it as music with a minimum of original effort put in, rather than an especially elaborate form of curation. Not that you can't still fail to appreciate it from that perspective, but then I'm the kind of person who thinks that you can make a substantive change to the effect of Chromium's "Time Traveller" by slowing it down and framing it in the context of the hazy cultural memory of disco's opulence, so I suppose I don't fall within that group.
I think the definitive text on all of this is Sputink Music's "Floral Shoppe" Review, which makes such a strong case for the conceptual merits of the genre that I was able to remove them from their musical context and port them over to a paper I did on Beowulf (I loved making that citation).

For the record, definitely keep track of "Artzie Music" on YouTube if you can't get enough of the genre(s). Especially Future Funk/Neo Disco.

Saint Pepsi, due to a forced name change, is now Skylar Spence.
Less catchy, but at least he's still making music.
