Re: Starting My Guy Man build (With help from Sorenzo Props)

So I started trimming the cast out last night. Then just after 8pm the night sky lit up outside the window and it sounded like a bomb went off above my place... Right as I was drilling a small hole small enough to get a file in the LED holders part. The boom scared the hell out of me, I jumped and I ended up cracking the LED. Also I dropped my drill and the bit did a nice bit of damage to my foot. I thought a bus hit my house. Turns out it was a meteor that entered the atmosphere and created a sonic boom and exploded.

Looks like I will be fixing that crack tonight.. Please no more meteors tonight.

I was too depressed to take pics of the crack.

So I finished cutting and trimming all the parts to the Guy Man helmet and I shipped it off to get chromed. I had a bad experience with Creations N Chrome so I won't be giving them my business. So I sent it to Don at Coat of Chrome. He does phenomenal work.

    Here's some pics

    Primer

    Base Coat

    Chrome

    Gold!

I highly recommend going to Don if you need your helmet chromed. It looks so good..

So... The helmet is back with me. But I have bad news..

Crushed corner of the shipping box.. Not a good sight.

Didn't even pull the helmet out fully when I noticed this. Fed Ex cracked it!!

    sigh

    Another shot of the crack

Don filed a claim with Fed Ex for this. And I should hear back soon. What a let down. I feel sick to my stomach.

    Thanks Fed Ex..

    Yeah. Im pretty bummed out.

Don said he can fix it when I ship it back to him. So I'm still hopeful.

    Update..

I have my helmet back.. Don fixed it and rechromed the helmet. Whew. So I started assembling the Helmet.

The center LED holders were chromed. So I painted it black.. Then I painted the inside of the holders with some matte white. It looks like crap here but I painted a few coats on there. I just didnt take pics of the better paint job.

    Pics from the inside.

Color sheets and diffusion in place.

Kinda finished.. I need to put the fans in place. This pic doesn't really do it justice.

I added the eyes like Guy man had in the Discovery interview.

All the LEDs in the helmet were from Alex Plus LEDs. Cept the Eyes.. But I learned how to wire it with Alex's help.
It was a long process. But thanks to Sorenzo for his awesome cast. And thanks to Alex for the LEDs and all his help.
